work is not that exciting today. i spent the day downloading music from area50.

if i had NOT posted yesterday, zztop's site, dave's site, and my site would have all been blank. and then we could have put pressure on this guy to blank-en his site. conform conform conform!

some of you may be wondering what's with this post. well, it turns out that today is the 14th anniversary of the html anchor tag. i thought i would pay my respects.

offline entry from Saturday.

calgary has redeemed itself.

i have to admit, i was getting worried after elaine's "friends" didn't like my "Jesus is a homo" shirt (read: almost kicked my ass in some dive bar). that kind of woke me up a bit, and then i started to notice all of the jesus freaks in this city that i should have been noticing all along. i mean, right now as i look out my window (oooh, yes, my window*) i see some building's wall with "Jesus is Lord" painted on the side of it. *shudder*

*my window:
i moved into (read: walked into with 2 backpacks) my new apartment today. elaine's dad freaked out a bit when i told him where i was living. he seems to think this neighbourhood is dangerous and sketchy. but it really isn't. it's just where all of the homeless people, mentally-disabled institution-refugees, mulleted stalkers, and other assorted trash hang out. but they don't seem threatening. the Mustard Seed Street Ministry is just over there, and i guess they get meals there or something....i'm still not entirely sure what a mustard seed street ministry is.

so yes, what was i saying?

oh yeah, redemption.

i went out last night with people from work to celebrate steve's departure. 17th avenue is where it's at in this city. this was proven last night with assorted drinking and cool girls, but the real proof came tonight. i was bored (no tv, no radio, no internet connection, no phone, no friends) so i was about to go to sleep at 8pm. yes, that's bored. but then i remembered the theatre i saw on 8th ave the other day that was running (at the time) fahrenheit 9/11 and napoleon dynamite 2 times each per night, every night. so i walked down planning to see napoleon (am i spelling this right?) dynamite again, but found that the michael moore show had been bumped for Festival Express. maybe more about Festival Express later...this entry is getting jye-normous. so i decide to see that, but i had an hour and 45 minutes until it starts. i walk over to 17th again just to see what's going on there on a saturday night. i was walking past some music store and heard alkaline trio pumping out of it, so i decided to go in. this place is like rotate this without the attitude, as proven by the two people working there tonight. i bought The Salteens' "Short-term Memories" and as i was paying them for it i asked where i could find good live music here. the girl ran off to get the last remaining copy of Fast Forward (similar to The Eye, it seems) in the store (it happened to be in the staff washroom) for me while the guy wrote down some of the good venues for me. AND it turns out that one of them is a block away from my new home. I'm pretty sure the store was called Megatunes. that's a pretty lame name, now that i think about it. in any case, that store, and its staff, are excellent.

wow. it's amazing how much you're tempted to write in an offline entry because you simply have nothing else to do. i should get some pictures of this place. i bought another new-aged folding chair (i think I've bought about 9 of these in 3 years) and that's the ONLY piece of furniture that i have. BUT, on friday i'm buying steve's old furniture, going to ikea to pick up a bed (i hope) and probably going to the value village near elaine's house to get a couch or 2 and some dishware, etc. i was in there yesterday and found an awesome mug. it said "keep on trucking" on the one side, which is pretty fucking passe, BUT the other side had a cartoon truck driver saying "that's a big 10-4". aah, cb-seek, how i miss you.

so tomorrow will probably be a super-busy day because every time i come back home i have nothing to do...although it won't be quite as bad as today because at least i'll have this chair. i'm thinking i might go to ikea and do some pre-shopping. maybe write down the names of some stuff that i need.
